New postcard from CHINA!!!

Curiosity about China:
  • In Chinese, FISH and abundance sound the same, so the first became the symbol of the second.

Best Wishes!

Cute Teddy Bear from China!

This postcard is so cute! Check it out:

As always the stamps are amazingly beautiful....

Curiosity about China:
  • The Chinese are very superstitious. The 4, 14 and 24 floor do not exist in many buildings , because the ideogram of 4 is similar to the death. Phones finished in 4 or that have many 4's are a lot cheaper and are mostly used by foreigners. The number 8 has the ideogram reminiscent of prosperity. No wonder that the Olympics began on August 8, 2008, at 8:08 in the evening.
How interesting... I was born in the 8th of June.

Best Wishes!!!

Amazing Chinese Painting!

Yesterday I received this gorgeous postcard:

It really made my day :) I love art in general, but Chinese and Japanese paintings are the ones that impress me the most. I like the contrast of the colors, the themes, the characters... In one word: Everything :)

The animal in the stamp is a Budorcas taxicolor (Takin), a goat-antelope found in the Eastern Himalayas.

Curiosity about China:
  •  Today I leave you a video about Chinese painting, more precisely how to Paint Bamboo. Although it's in Chinese, I thought it was really interesting because it's possible to see very clearly how the painter hold the brush and works with it.

Hope you enjoy it!

The Year of the Rabbit

Another postcard from Asia, in this particular case China, trough a direct swap. Here it is:

Curiosity about China:
  • To know a little bit more about those whose Chinese sign is Rabbit here are some personality traits:

Years: 1903, 1915,1927,1939, 1963, 1975, 1987 and 1999

Personality

Occupying the 4th position in the Chinese Zodiac, the Rabbit symbolizes such character traits as creativity, compassion, and sensitivity. Rabbits are friendly, outgoing and prefer the company of others. They also prefer to avoid conflict. Rabbits believe strongly in friends and family.
Because they're serene animals, Rabbits are easily taken advantage of. They're overall conservative and not interested in taking risks.
Classy, sophisticated, expressive, well-mannered and stylish, those born under the Sign of the Rabbit enjoy leaning about cultural issues and learning about people from other countries.

Hope you like it!

5 postcards in a day?!

Yes! Monday, as I've already mentioned, is normally full of postcards but on the  24th Jan. it was insane. 4 of them were official and other, from Kazakhstan, was from a direct swap. Here are them:

Curiosity about China:
  • If the world were a single street, one in four of your neighbors would be Chinese.

(Look at this stamps...
They're beautiful!)

Curiosity about Finland:
  • In Winter, temperatures range between -5 °C (23º F) and -30 °C (-22ºF).

Curiosity about Kazakhstan:
  • In 2000, Kazakhstan became the first former Soviet Republic to repay all of its debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), 7 years ahead of schedule.

( Fountain of the Zodiac Signs)

Curiosity about Netherlands:
  •  The Netherlands is one of the few countries that do not have the seat of government in the capital; it's in The Hague.

The postcard sender saw in my profile that I've recently started a stamp collection and decided to send me some :) Thank you so much!
You can see all of them right below.

By the way, my collection until this day was really poor, because I've only started to be interested in stamps in September. To have an idea I'm showing it... 3 of them are from South Africa, 4 from Spain and 3 from Portugal.

 (Back to the postcards...)

Curiosity about USA:
  • The legal age to consume alcoholic drinks is 21.

It's all for today... Bye!

1st postcard from China

On the 19.01 I've received a non-official postcard from CHINA! Awesome! It's image shows part of the Great Wall of China. I hope I can be there one day  :)

 Curiosity about China:
  • The Chinese territory covers four time zones but it's Beijing's time that is used in the whole country.

Bye Bye!
